“That day we could see that there was a seal just buzzing around for a couple of hours,” he said.
“It just took off in an instant started gliding under me and then jumped out, launched itself into the air right next me.”
The surf spot is at the mouth of a river and Russell said it attracts seals because fish populate the area. There’s been shark attacks in the area before.
“My brother has seen a couple of sharks around there, so it was a bit of a relief when it was a seal that popped up.”
